Domestic help

A good thing, or a not so good thing? Owen walks onto our kitchen floor, looks down and says "Yucky!" Then proceeds to go to the broom and begins sweeping. Good that he's a big help (and knows what to do)! Not so good that my floors were like that in the first place! :)

Obama Mama

If you haven't heard the news, Obama came to town yesterday, and since I have never been to anything like this, I decided to take Owen and check it out! It was CRAZY!!!!! Between trying to find parking, to securing your place in the 5+ mile line of people trying to get in to the Magnus Center at DU (University of Denver), with helicopters circling overhead (this kept Owen busy for quite awhile--"copter"!), we had a blast! It was about 39 degrees to stand and wait, but I was armed with snacks and we had good company, Perry and Simon, to wait with. Below is our experience in pictures: Owen saying "I"ve had enough of the cold, the wait, and want to go home!"
We finally made it inside (albeit in the "overflow" space...aka watch it on the "big screen")
To our surprise, guess who decided to make a guest appearance to the overflow crowd! (And yes, we were this close...zoom lens was not in effect!)
" Hello Mr., Senator, perhaps-soon-to-be-President Obama."
And this is Owen through the whole "let's meet the man of the hour" escapde. :) The screaming cheers didn't phase this poor, tired soul. Guess political science isn't in his future!
Perry and Simon, flush with excitement after seeing Obama!Owen awakes, and Simon tries to explain to Owen what he missed, "He came from over there...he was right here!"

Best buds!

Everytime the room errupted with applause, Owen stopped and started clapping. Of course, he thought it was all for him!

Afterwards, he goes back to doing what he does best..."Vrrrrm! Beep, beep!" Election? What election?

Gerber family '08

Needless to say, it has been forever since the last update! I had it "up to here" with our dial-up connection, and protested any computer work from home until our we got high-speed! So, I am so pleased to finally announce that we have joined the ranks of most other people enjoying the thrills of DSL! It is unbelievable how much more efficient you can be...but you all know that already (it's us who are discovering it)!

Anyhow, it is good to be back in touch and share the latest with Owen and our lives. O is now almost 17 months old, loves to play football (esp. when you tell him to "go deep", he'll run to the other side of the room and extend his arms for a catch), read books, climb on anything stationary, and talk, talk, talk! I think I can honestly say that I am now finally truly, fully, deeply loving being a mother. He is just so much fun and we can actually communicate together! It is so funny what he comes up with! He said his first sentence a few weeks ago....the very primal "I want that!" as he pointed at his breakfast cereal I was pouring for him! Then later that day, he brought me a book and said, "Me want you read this!" So, he has no troubles letting us know his needs, that is for sure! What a sturdy self-confidence we have nurtured! :) Anyhow, here are a few of the latest shots from our life. And I promise, I"ll try to keep this blog more up-to-date, now that it doesn't take me 20+ minutes to download pictures!

Here is Owen climbing up on the table (in a split second as I went to the other room), loudly announced "Climber!, " grabbed his spoon and went to finishing his yogurt!

Do I live in a zoo? I love Owen's expression!
Shawn and I (before and after) went skiing at Copper Mountain last Monday--lots of fun and VERY cold (high of 14 degrees).
Thank goodness for Starbucks!
