A new playdate

Go figure. Last week Owen and I went swimming at the APEX Center, a great local recreation center with an amazing indoor waterpark. I LOVE IT there! (And Owen does, too!) Anyhow, we met the nicest young mom there with her beautiful 12 month old daughter, Mariella. She was one of those people you just "connect with" after seconds of meeting. Anyhow, she invited Owen and I to a new playgroup that she was starting. We went today and had a great time together! Just us moms are getting together on Monday night for a Sex & The City Marathon party. It will be great fun! Go figure...I finally connect with some really great people 4 weeks before moving away. The universe can be pretty cruel. :)

We are moving

I know, I know. We just got here. I know, I know, we are taking away prospects of good skiing vacations for many of you. Sorry. However, if you would like to check out the Amish in the Heartland of America, they are only a stone's throw away from Goshen!

Like many of you have heard by now, Shawn and I will be packing up our Rocky Mountain bags and heading to the land of Goshen. Shawn was just offered the position of Director of Spiritual Care at Goshen General Hospital. Despite the fact that we were both pretty settled and enjoying life here (and could see ourselves here for about 10 years), we realized that positions like this don't open up every year...and since we wanted to eventually end up in Goshen, decided that this looked like as good a time as any.

But, it is hard to move. I don't like transitions. They are getting harder and harder. Pray for sanity. Pray for a buyer to buy our house in the HORRIBLE market. It goes up tomorrow.

My "little" boy

I had to post this picture, because it seriously looks like he is posing for his first day of Kindergarten picture. My baby sure is growing up fast!

Valentine's Day Mail

Owen was quite the lucky boy when he got the mail yesterday! Inside he found 2 cards from his Great Grandmother T., Grandma and Grandpa Gerber (that made lots of great animal sounds when opened), and a package from Grandma/pa Springer with books! He loved looking at all the them...thank you so much! And much love back to you!

Valentine's Day Fun at the Denver Zoo

On Valentine's Day, the Denver Zoo had a free day, so I organized our MennoMama group from church to go together. Despite the 29 degree temps. and 3 inches of fresh snow, we loved it! Owen went with his good buddy Derek (who I watch on Thursdays), and together they LOVED seeing all the animals. Actually, it was better than I expected b/c most of the animals were inside, meaning very upclose views! Owen and Derek especially loved the alligators, elephants, and peacocks! The picture of all the kiddos was in the "Tropical Discovery" part of the zoo (aka rainforest), a perfect place for a snack! The little boy to the left of Owen is Aidan, his other buddy that he stays with on Tuesdays. It was a great Valentine's Day treat! As you can see, everyone was exhausted afterwards, meaning a nice LONG afternoon nap for Mom!

When can I get my permit?

Here is Owen doing one of his favorite 17 month old activities--driving the car! He loves going "vrooommmm!" and turning the wheel, beeping the horn, not to mention pushing and pulling any thing that moves. So, here he is in his glory! He's counting down the days...only 5,476 to go!

Emerill in Training

Here is our little Emerill in training! Owen loves helping in the kitchen, and I love the company! He is actually getting very good as stirring, and likes to taste! Unfortunetly, I have to continue to remind him and raw eggs are not good for the tummy!

Uh oh! Busted!

As I was loading the dishwasher last week, guess who snuck in and swiped a dirty ice cream scoop out from under my nose! Yep, busted! This is where I found him hiding with his loot! :) I cracked up! His face when I walked in was priceless!

Basement fun!

Because it has been so cold outside this winter, and because Owen needs more open space inside to play, we've sort of converted our basement into a psuedo-playroom. There is a lot of open space to run around, and we even brought our slide/swing combo in from outside. Owen enjoyed the morning today playing and showing off for us. As you can see...Owen is obviously feeling better. :)

Go figure

When Owen was a baby, the swing was never a place he wanted to be very long. Now, when he's way too big to use it, he can't get enough of it! Here he is in our basement finding the swing, crawling in it, and taking it for a ride!
Go figure!
ps. Owen had been very sick this past week (temps of over 103 for 5 days), but it looks like he kicked this weird virus last night! No fever when he woke up this morning! Thank God! And, my sermon came together in record time (45 minutes) yesterday, during Owen's nap. Maybe the week's not turning out so bad afterall!
