Musician

This morning at breakfast I asked Owen, "What type of instrument would you want to play?"

He thought...and thought...and thought...

Thinking towards the classics I suggested, "A violin, perhaps?"

I was there...seeing my boy with his white dress shirt, black pants, pint-sized violin, standing in "ready position" for the Twinkle recital. How adorable, right?!

And then he says, "No. I want to play the drums! Yeah!"

With that he runs off and bring back his guitar and microphone and puts on a breakfast show worthy of Lollapalooza for a good 15 minutes.

Adjusting expectations...another reminder that my child is his own, not mine.

Finding treasure

Life with curious little boys leads to unexpected treasures at every corner.

Today's recap:

1. Straightening the pillows on the couch exposes the "cave" where the mountain lion, tiger, and unicorn live.
2. A drink from my metal water-bottle releases not water, but a mouthful of crayons and colored pencils.
3. A preemptive look into my counter-top mixer before making brownies reveals the missing stash of pacifiers.
4. Pulling back the sheets to straighten my bed this afternoon, showed 4 small snakes and 1 large anaconda.

Oh how I love these boys.
