Pictures from the 2 year old's party!

Here are some pictures from Owen's 2nd birthday. He had a great time! He woke up that morning and when I asked him what he wanted for breakfast he said, "Birf-day cake!" Throughout the day he announced, "Happy Birthday, Owen!" What a guy! We had a picnic outside in our courtyard. It was a beautiful night, albeit windy (which is not so good for trying to light birthday candles, btw). I am continually thankful to God for giving us such a sweet, healthy, little boy. He teaches us so much everyday about how to take life as it comes. Happy Birthday, Owen!

It's not a dinosaur, it's a "T-Rex!"

When Owen opened this present from a student here in the Apartments, Shawn asked him, "Owen, what is it?!?!" Everyone there awaited the standard response, "A dinosaur." However, Owen loudly pipes up, "A T-Rex!" I can't believe how grown up he is getting...and gosh, he's only 2!

Weekend Campout

Here are some pictures from last weekend's Schrock Campout at Amigo Centre. This annual event is with Shawn's mother's side. It was a beautiful weekend weather-wise, not too hot, not too cold! Just how camping should be! I love the firs picture of Keith and Shawn...similarities to Tommy Boy, perhaps? Anyhow, Owen had a great time playing with his cousins and getting dirty. Isn't that what growing up in the summer is all about?

Owen's favorite things

Here are some pictures of Owen's favorite things to do: go to the playground, play on the computer (notice the screen), and act silly! On the computer, Shawn and I are thankful that Owen finally learned how to maneuver the mouse (and click on what he wants to see/hear), so we aren't running in every 15 seconds to change the Thomas the Train video song! His newest thing is to go to my office door and say, "I need to check email!" Hmmm...perhaps he hears someone else saying that frequently...!

Owen and I went to visit my good friend from college and her children a few weeks ago in IL! We had a great time of reconnecting and meeting her little ones. Here are some pictures from our lunch together. Afterwards, we went shopping and even found a Thomas the Train store that had nothing but Tomas paraphernalia! Owen was in heaven!

Owen's First Day of "School"

Today was Owen's first day of "school." He is going to the day care that is here on the college's campus, so he's close to both mom and dad throughout the day! He was really excited about it this morning, and loved carrying his lunch bag around. When we entered the building, he literally "danced" his way down the hall to his classroom. When he entered, he went straight to the train table. Hope it goes well!

Here are some pictures from a recent Resident Director party that Owen attended...thanks to Susie for capturing Owen! I started work last week and think it will be a good year. I really have enjoyed getting to know my other colleagues, and have a positive feeling about how things are going. This will be a big week coming up: Owen starts school (2 days a week), we have our first students here in the building (student teachers), and I'm starting the third trimester of my pregnancy!
