Johnny Appleseed

Ever since we've moved to Goshen 8 weeks ago, Owen has been adamant about singing Johnny Appleseed for every mealtime (and sometimes bedtime) prayer. For awhile I thought, "Again??!!" But now, the words have struck me differently, especially in light of our family's newest developments.

Oh, the Lord's been good to me,
And so I thank the Lord,
For giving me the things I need,
The sun and the rain and the appleseed,
The Lord's been good to me.

Johnny Appleseed...AMEN!

Since I wrote last, feeling rather despairing about life in general, I have a new job, we have housing lined up, and I have met some really neat women in the community. Truly, the Lord has been good to us, giving us the things we need. I was offered the position at Goshen College in their Student Life Division, as Apartment Manager (overseeing the Jr./Sr. housing). I actually declined it the first time, but after a series of events, decided to take it when they offered it again. We will be living in a brand-new 2 story townhouse that they built within the new Apartment building on campus. It won't be overly spacious for us, but I think the benefits of it all, will be worth it in the meantime. We are moving our things in (hopefully) next Friday, June 20. Call me if you want some plans for next Friday night!! :) (Hee, hee!)

We are excited about this opportunity--to get reacquainted with life in higher education, and to have a little more time to play with in which to discern the future direction for our lives. Owen's just excited about living in a place that has an elevator! Talk about entertainment! Oh, and I've been thinking about just walking across the street to Goshen General Hospital to deliver my baby come November. It's only about a 500 yd. walk! Just kidding! Although I could....:)

Anyhow, I think I've learned a lot these last few weeks from good 'ol Johnny. It has given me good pause to stop and reflect on how God has been providing for me, in big and small ways. For the sunshine, for the rain, and for the appleseed--thanks be to God.
